WoW Fishing Guide

dugi's ultimate wow guide

When World of Warcraft first started their fishing escapades for players, it was a lot more difficult than it is today.

Once upon a time you had to have a certain amount of skill points in this secondary profession before you could fish in higher level waters.

However, due to a few new patches that came out, anyone can fish anywhere. Even if someone ports you to a high level location you can build your profession there.

While this may be true, there are still several reasons why you should think about a wow fishing guide. You might need help figuring out what foods are available at each level or all the various drops that you can get from a particular area.

Whatever the case may be, a guide that is geared towards fishing will definitely be helpful. It really just depends on what you're looking for and how much you know about this secondary profession.

Purchasing a Fishing Pole

Obviously you can't fish without a fishing pole, and in order to purchase one you have to find a vendor. Most of them are scattered throughout the World of Warcraft game, but most of them are found in major cities and smaller ones that offer quests.

If you want to progress a little faster, we suggest purchasing the extra bobbers or lures for extra skill points.

It's important to understand that these are extremely cheap. You won't be spending tons of gold get this one going. Once you reach the higher levels you will understand the importance of a wow fishing guide.

For now however, let's just give you a few helpful hints to get you going. Even with the information we are going to provide below, you will find it very helpful.

Leveling 1-50

Even though you may think that leveling to 50 is going to be time consuming, it actually goes pretty quick. However, one thing to note is that you need to find the appropriate pools to level quickly.

It doesn't matter if you’re with the Horde or Alliance because both will be easy to find. Here are the best places for each faction when you first start fishing.

Alliance- If there is one place you get your fishing skill up when you're part of the Alliance; you have to go to Crystal Lake. It can be found in Elwynn Forest around the same area as Stormwind.

Horde- When you move along the path of the Horde, it's important to take your fishing skills to Mulgore. There you will find a place around Bloodhoof. There will be a lake there that will get you started.

We do stress that you can fish from anywhere, so if these locations are very far away, you're just going to have to make do with the area your character started.

The only difference we found with these two areas is they give you what you need at a faster pace. Other places are full of old boots, weeds, and so many other fish that it just takes too long.

Fishing Gear

One thing most people overlook when they're fishing is all the gear available. While some of your catches can result in armor, weapons, mounts and more, there is actually fishing gear you can where while having a nice time on the water.

Granted, you might not worry about it, but a wow fishing guide will give you the details if you do. Here's a short list of what you can find.

Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole (200) - This epic fishing pole is one of the most sought after of the bunch. Higher leveled toons will enjoy its 186.5 DPS (damage per second) and 1843 feral attack power.

If this wasn't enough, it will also increase your fishing by 30, and allow underwater breathing. Unfortunately you have your skill level at 300 before you can equip it.

Fishing Chair- If you want to look stylish while you're sitting on a pier, grab yourself a seat.

Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat (115) - Priests, Warlocks, and Mages may enjoy the ability to wear this item. On a fishing standpoint it gives you a +5 skill increase, but if you attach a lure while fishing you will get an additional 75.

We suggest checking the auction house for this one because you can only get it from a drop.

There are several others you can get during your journey and use them to your advantage. You can also find things like higher test line, using dynamite, and having hooks, nets, and anything else.

It's a lot of fun once you get into it. Just keep in mind these will come through leveling your skill. They won't all be accessible in the beginning.

Other Things You'll Find

Since World of Warcraft is about as close to the real world you can get, there are several other benefits to fishing. Eventually you will come across a fishing tournament in Stranglethorn Vale.

While many of you will want to jump all over this, we recommend waiting until you are at least a level 40 character. This way you can take on all the mobs without any problems and reach each area faster with a mount. If you try to do it at a lower level, you might come home a loser.

In the end you can make fishing a lot of fun, but you'll need the help of a wow fishing guide. Trying to go about it without one will leave you wandering around the game in hopes of finding something good.

Instead of taking this route, why don't you let a guide tell you exactly where to go and when you should do it. The end result will be much, much better for you.
